Vatican likely to pass Euro financial-transparency test
CWN - June 22, 2012
Some Italian newspapers report that the Vatican will pass a new European test of transparency in financial transfers; others say that the "Moneyval" test will find fault with the Vatican's safeguards. Who is right? Probably both, reports John Allen of the National Catholic Reporter.
The Moneyval tests include several different criteria, and the will probably call upon the Vatican to clear up some lingering questions, Allen writes. But the overall assessment is likely to lift the Vatican off the list of "trouble" states.
