English dioceses launch ‘100 Days of Peace’ for Olympics
June 08, 2012
The Catholic Dioceses of Brentwood, Southwark, and Westminster are sponsoring “100 Days of Peace,” an initiative to promote peace on the occasion of the upcoming Olympics.
“Our dream is that the London 2012 Games will leave a lasting legacy of peace towards greater safety on our streets, cooperation between nations and an end to war,” the organizers state on their web site.
The initiative begins with a June 8-9 prayer vigil in which different groups, from Pax Christi to the Buddhist and Sikh communities, will each take the lead for an hour.
