Religious freedom rallies to take place in 154 cities
Catholic World News - June 06, 2012
The Pro-Life Action League and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society have announced that Stand Up for Religious Freedom rallies will take place this Friday, June 8, in 154 cities in 49 states.
The “peaceful, family-friendly, non-partisan, ecumenical event” is a protest against the HHS mandate, which requires employers to offer insurance that covers contraception, sterilization, and some abortion-inducing drugs free of charge. The rallies will occur on the 223rd anniversary of the introduction of the Bill of Rights in the House of Representatives.
Stand Up for Religious Freedom rallies on March 23 attracted over 63,000 people in 145 cities.

Having just fought a war of independence against an oppressive English government that abused the American colonists of their rights the Founding Fathers were resolved to protect rights and to name some of them, such as freedom of religion to be fundamental to human nature granted by God making them off-limits to intrusion by the government. Thus, the message that will go forth from these rallies is that the government is once again meddling in the exercise of this fundamental human right.
