Activist nun has taken part in hundreds of demonstrations
CWN - May 22, 2012
The Chicago Tribune has profiled Sister Kathleen Desautels, a 74-year-old peace activist who works for the 8th Day Center for Justice. Desautels, who has taken part in hundreds of demonstrations, served as a “peace guide” during recent anti-NATO protests in Chicago.
“I like to think I'm the hostess of the protest,” she says. “Some people want to cause trouble or get arrested, and you can't stop them. But others are just solid gold people who are working to change things.”
“We're not a social services agency, and we don't do charity work," she said of the 8th Day Center for Justice. "But we're called to be an alternative, critical voice.”
