Prelate calls for closing of Guantanamo

El Salvador’s leading prelate is calling for the closure of the controversial Guantanamo Bay detention camp. At the request of the US, El Salvador recently granted asylum to two prisoners released from the camp.
“Let’s hope that the whole Guantanamo prison ends,” said Archbishop José Luis Escobar of San Salvador. “It would be ideal for the good of the world, of democracy and of liberty.”
