Vatican web site restored
CWN - March 08, 2012
The Vatican's internet site was restored, and apparently fully functional, on March 8, less than 24 hours after a crippling attack by hackers.
The 'Anonymous' collaborative claimed credit for bringing down the Vatican web site on March 7. The shadowy group, which said that it made the attack to protest Church teachings, has previously made successful attacks on the sites of such major institutions as the Bank of America, the US Department of Justice, and the FBI.
Vatican officials declined to comment in any depth on the cyber-attack or on the security arrangements for the web site.
