Satanic graffiti deface Oakland church
CWN - February 23, 2012
On Ash Wednesday, vandals spray-painted Satanic symbols and slogans on an Oakland, California church. Police are investigating the incident, classifying it as a hate crime.
The vandals toppled a cross, defaced statues, and wrote on the church walls. The parish is planning repairs later this week.
Father Geoffrey Baraan, the pastor of St. Anne’s church, suggested that the faithful should look upon the vandalism as a warning against the power of hatred, and resist the impulse to respond with hate.
