Chaldean Catholic Bishop Antoine Audo of Aleppo, Syria, has warned that continued violence will “turn Syria into a new Iraq.”
Bishop Audo pleaded with international leaders to support negotiation rather than violence as a means of resolving Syria’s political crisis. “Otherwise, Christians will pay a heavy price,” he said.
Tensions have risen in Aleppo as the Syrian government battles against rebel forces. The Arab League has voted to send in a peacekeeping force.
