Komen vice-president resigns after Planned Parenthood ruckus

February 07, 2012

Karen Handel, a vice president of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, resigned after the organization reversed a decision to stop providing funds to Planned Parenthood.

Handel, an pro-lifer who has been vice-president for public policy, expressed her keen disappointment with the publicity surrounding Komen’s decision. She noted that the decision to pull support from Planned Parenthood had been removed by the entire board after thorough discussion, and was in line with an overall policy decision to avoid becoming involved in other politicized controversies.

I am pleased to see that there is one clear headed person not swayed by the fascist tactics of PP. I am sure that Karen Handel will prosper whatever enterprise she enters next.

By supporting Planned Parenthood Komen IS being political since the abortion issue is so polarizing and charged. I was deeply saddened at the decsion to continue funding P.P. on the part of Komen.
