Caritas: 250,000 Somalis at risk of famine

Catholic World News - January 12, 2012

A quarter million Somalis are at risk of famine, while an additional four million live in a situation of food insecurity, according to a report prepared by Caritas Somalia, the Church’s charitable relief organization in the strife-torn nation.

Much of the nation of ten million is controlled by Al-Shabaab, an Islamist terrorist organization that compounded the humanitarian crisis by expelling 16 relief agencies from its territory in November.
