Federal court upholds law requiring ultrasound before abortion

A federal appellate court has lifted an injunction that prevented the implementation of Texas’s sonogram law. Under the legislation, passed in 2011, abortionists are required to offer mothers the opportunity to view an ultrasound image of their child and to hear their child’s heartbeat before maternal consent to an abortion.
