Vatican Museums set new high for visitors in 2011
CWN - January 10, 2012
The Vatican Museums set a record in 2011, exceeding 5 million visitors for the first time.
The total number of visitors at the Vatican Museums last year was 5,078,004, reported director Antonio Paolucci.
Paolucci observed that the traffic at the Vatican Museums easily outstrips that at any other museum in Italy. The famous Uffizi Gallery in Florence, for example, saw barely 1.5 million visitors in 2011.
