Pope Pius XII: ‘Be proud to be a Jew’

Writing for Inside the Vatican, William Doino, Jr., documents Venerable Pius XII’s efforts to assist Jewish refugees detained on the island of Rhodes.
“And now, my Jewish friend, go with the protection of the Lord, and never forget, you must always be proud to be a Jew,” the Pontiff told Heinz Wisla, one of the refugees, during a 1941 audience.
