Columnist rips Santorum's critics for breach of decency

January 09, 2012

Commenting on vicious personal attacks that have been loosed at presidential candidate Rick Santorum, columnist Mark Steyn, remarks: “The Left's much-vaunted powers of empathy routinely fail when confronted by those who do not agree with them politically.”

Santorum has been excoriated for his handling of the death on an infant child. Steyn observes that those who have not faced such a tragedy should have the decency to respect the actions of grieving parents. Pundits of the Left, who routinely demand respect for “personal” decisions, are violating their own principles in this case.

As for the critics who ridicule Santorum for having a large family, Steyn replies that "all those self-evidently ludicrous risible surplus members of the Santorum litter are going to be paying the Social Security and Medicare of all you normal well-adjusted Boomer yuppies who had one designer kid at 39."

Bravo Steyn! May God continue to bless Santorum and his family, for living their Catholic faith so beautifully in such a difficult cultural climate.

There are 60,000,000 fewer children under the age of 4yrs alive today then there were 25 yrs ago. Not because of families like the Santorums
