Dioceses recovering from bankruptcy

The National Catholic Register examines how four dioceses--Tucson, Davenport (Iowa), Spokane, and Portland (Oregon)--have fared in the years following their decision to file for bankruptcy.
“When you lose everything, you realize that you still have what matters most--and that’s your faith, your life and your friends,” says Bishop Gerald Kicanas of Tucson, whose diocese has emerged from bankruptcy amid successful fundraising campaigns.
