Tributes to Cardinal Foley
December 19, 2011
Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, the president of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, and Archbishop Timothy Dolan have joined other prelates, priests, and laity in paying tribute to the late Cardinal John Foley, who died of leukemia on December 11 and whose solemn funeral Mass took place on December 16.
“He will always be remembered for his great kindness and goodness to others and for his profound professional competence in the field of communication,” Archbishop Celli said of his predecessor. I have no doubt that anyone who had the good fortune to meet Cardinal Foley will have many stories and happy memories to share recalling his profound humanity, wisdom and humor. Beneath this, and at the very heart of the man, however, was the richness of his faith and the depth of his spirituality.”
