80-year-old Chicago priest beaten, kicked during robbery
CWN - December 07, 2011
Father Daniel Mallette, an 80-year-old priest at St. Margaret of Scotland Church in Chicago, was beaten and kicked during a robbery of the parish’s rectory on December 6. He suffered broken ribs and a swollen face.
“He kept saying the Act of Contrition, and they kept smacking him, telling him to shut up,” said the chairman of the parish council. As the robbers made off with $600, one said, “This might sound ridiculous, but could you pray for me?”
