Vatican officials meet with Jain leaders
CWN - December 06, 2011
Vatican officials met on December 6 with representatives of the Jain faith.
After the meeting—the first such session since 1995—the Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue issued a statement praising the “cordial relations and cooperation” between Catholics and Jains in the regions where they live together--primarily in India. The discussion on December 6 centered on a comparison between the Jain principle of non-violence and the Christian call to charity.
