Children suffer amid continued violence in Somalia

Children continue to suffer as casualties of violence in Somalia, where warring tribes still vie for influence in a country that has lacked an effective central government for near 20 years.
UN monitors reported that at least 24 children were killed in fighting during the month of October alone, the Fides news service notes. Kidnapping, forced military service, sexual abuse, and trafficking in children remain widespread.
