Dutch priest ordered to leave female companion

CWN - November 11, 2011

A Dutch priest has been warned by the Diocese of ‘s Hertogenbosch that he must give up a female companion or risk dismissal from ministry.

Father Jan Peijnenberg has reportedly lived with the same woman for 46 years, and apparently some Church officials were aware of the arrangement. A diocesan statement indicated that the priest’s recent statements had “confirmed what we knew" about his living situation.
