Orange diocese moves to revive bid to purchase Crystal Cathedral
CWN - November 02, 2011
The Diocese of Orange, California, is seeking to stop the sale of the Crystal Cathedral to Chapman University.
The diocese, which had made a $53.6 million offer to purchase the property, is arguing in bankruptcy court that the winning $50 million bid from Chapman University would not provide full value for creditors of the bankrupt Crystal Cathedral property. The Chapman bid was apparently accepted because it made provisions for the Crystal Cathedral congregation, founded by the noted televangelist Robert Schuller, to lease and eventually repurchase the property.
