L'Osservatore Romano making new waves in Rome

The official Vatican newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, has been raising eyebrows among curial officials under the leadership of a vigorous new editor, Giovanni Maria Vian. The noted Vatican-watcher Sandro Magister of Chiesa notes that L'Osservatore has become an active player in controversies, including some controversies within the walls of the Vatican, such as the debates over acceptance of "brain death" and the cause for beatification of Pope Pius XII.
