Berlin: local authorities reject billboards of Pope

Local authorities in Mitte, Berlin’s central borough, have rejected a plan by the nation’s ruling party to allow a Catholic organization to make use of large billboards in welcoming the Pope to the city on September 22.
The authorities stated they would permit the use of large billboards only in cases of “overwhelming public interest” such as political campaigns.
