20 masked men desecrate Kerala parish

CWN - September 06, 2011

Twenty masked men destroyed the altar, confessionals, and vestments in a parish in the southwestern Indian state of Kerala on the evening of September 4.

“We have had, in recent years, a growth of these Hindu extremist groups in Kerala and we begin to suffer the consequences,” Bishop Stanley Roman of Quilon said following the desecration of Our Lady of Vailankanni parish in Kottenkulangara. “But it is also true that, consequently, small Islamic groups are proliferating.”
