Famine now threatens half of Somalia's people

A devastating famine in the Horn of Africa has spread across three more regions of Somalia, relief officials warn, citing UN reports.

More than 11 million people are now at risk because of the famine, and hundreds are dying every day. In Somalia more than 3 million people--roughly half of the entire population--are at risk.
