Brooklyn parish refuses donation from lawmaker who favored same-sex marriage
CWN - July 08, 2011
A Catholic parish in Brooklyn has returned a contribution from a lawmaker who supported same-sex marriage.
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel refused a $50 donation from Assemblyman Joseph Lentol to the parish school. The move was in response to a directive from Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, telling pastors that they should not accept contributions from politicians who backed the acceptance of same-sex marriage.
