Group opposes bid to build Catholic hospital in Maryland
CWN - June 20, 2011
Plans to build a new Catholic hospital in Maryland have encountered opposition from Americans United for Separation of Church and State, whose representatives note that the proposed Holy Cross Hospital site would not perform abortions. The group argues that simply leasing land to a Catholic hospital constitutes a government establishment of religion. (Refusing to lease land to Holy Cross Hospital would appear to establish religion of another sort, or perhaps anti-religion.)
