June 09, 2011
92% of Americans believe in God, according to a new Gallup survey--down from 98% in 1967. When asked whether they believe in God or a “universal spirit,” 80% of Americans say they believe in God, while 12% believe in a “universal spirit.”
Men (90%), those in the 18-29 age group (86%), Easterners (86%), and self-described liberals (85%) are slightly less likely to believe in God than are other Americans.
