Mexico: priest brutally murdered
CWN - April 28, 2011
A priest of the Archdiocese of Mexico City was brutally murdered at his church at dawn on April 26. Father Francisco Sánchez Durán was 60.
The “act of violence is deplorable in itself and even more so if carried out against persons consecrated to God,” said Cardinal Norberto Rivera.
The murder comes amid increasing threats, violence, and extortion attempts against Mexican priests. Last year, 162 priests received death threats, and two were kidnapped and murdered.
