Religious freedom is #1 goal in Vatican-Muslim talks

Vatican officials and Muslim scholars will begin talks on November 4: the fruit of the "Common Word" initiative by 138 Islamic scholars and the direct result of a papal invitation. Father Samir Khalil Samir, SJ, sees the talks as a response to the Pope's famous Regensburg speech, with its challenge to Islamic leaders to unite the benefits of faith and reason.
