Catholic Recipe: Sugar Cookies with Nuts

    INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons brandy
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • confectioners' sugar

DIRECTIONS

Cream butter until light, fluffy. Add sugar, mixing well. Add egg yolk, brandy. Sift flour and baking powder together. Fold into above mixture. Add chopped nuts. Form small round and crescent shapes, using 1 tablespoon of dough for each. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 20 minutes at 350°. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar while still warm. Yield, 3 dozen
