This shortbread cookie is chilled overnight. The cookies can be cut into Christmas trees, or with your favorite Christmas cookie cutter.

DIRECTIONS

Cream butter or margarine. Slowly stir in sugar, mixing well. Add flour, working with a wooden spoon to make a soft dough. Press into a ball; cover and chill until firm enough to roll out. Using a little dough at a time, roll out 1/3 inch thick on a lightly floured board. Cut with a floured Christmas tree cutter. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 300° for 20 minutes or until pale brown. Remove from sheet; cool on a wire rack. Decorate with icing, citron, and colored sugars. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
