Catholic Recipe: German Cinnamon Stars

    INGREDIENTS

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 pound grated unblanched almonds
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Seasons

These cookies are cut in the shape of star cookie cutter, although anything will do. The smell of cinnamon baking makes these a nice Christmas cookie.

DIRECTIONS

Beat egg whites stiff. Add powdered sugar slowly. Continue to beat till it holds shape. Add cinnamon and almonds. Sprinkle a board with flour and sugar. Pat out dough three-eighths inch thick. Cut with star cutter. Bake on greased cookie sheet in moderate oven (375°) for 15 minutes.
