Catholic Recipe: Arroz con Leche

  • 1-1/2 cups water
  • 8 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • ground cinnamon for dusting

This dessert will go well with Aji de Gallina for a genuine Peruvian dinner, appropriate for the feast of St. Rose of Lima (August 23) or St. Turibius de Mogrovejo (March 23), two Peruvian saints.

DIRECTIONS

Bring rice, water, condensed milk, orange juice and cinnamon sticks to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 14-17 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.

Before serving remove cinnamon sticks and dust with cinnamon and fresh orange slices.
