Catholic Recipe: Cabbage and Meat Rolls

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pound ground pork and beef, mixed
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 can (20 ounces) tomatoes

DIRECTIONS

Cook cabbage leaves 1 minute in boiling salted water. Sauté onion in butter in skillet. Add garlic, meat; brown 2 minutes. Add rice. Season to taste. Roll 2 tablespoons meat-rice mixture in each cabbage leaf. Place in casserole. Pour tomatoes on top. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 350°. Yield, 6 servings
