Catholic Prayer: Shrove Tuesday Prayer

Description:

A most appropriate prayer for home on Shrove Tuesday evening would be that which is used in church after the bestowal of the blessed ashes on Wednesday. [Note: The formula of this prayer may have been changed since the publication of this article in the 1950's.]

Prayer:

Lord, give us grace to inaugurate with holy fasting the defenses of Christian warfare, so that we who are to fight against spiritual wickedness, may be helped and strengthened by self-denial.
