Prayer:

I ask you, my Lord, that in your sincere love you grant us a secure union in the innermost good that you are God himself. And I ask you, my Lord, by the powerful help which you have given us in your holy human life, in all your works of love, that we become aware in your presence, seen and unseen with sweet touch – that we become aware of what is right – heartfelt love towards you, that our delight be nowhere but in holy suffering and in your holy sacraments, and that in them you bestow on us true seclusion from all this world and a going away of ourselves, a pure knowledge of our sins, to be in right love to regret and let go of it, and a bitter sorrow for all the time we wasted in thoughts, in words.

Give us, my Lord, a constant warning to ourselves in Your heartfelt love, and a powerful victor against all evil. And give us, my Lord, the pure truth, in which we will know and thank you; and also your causeless mercy, in which we are purified and cleansed from all our debts, so that we may appear pure in the mirror of your divine face as when our souls were poured into our bodies and our bodies were raised from baptism. I ask you, my Lord Jesus Christ, through your perfect grace, that you help us so that we follow your will in everything, be it love or sorrow, and that your strong power binds us to it and your sweet love compels us to do so, that we have no natural life on us save you, Jesus Christ.
