WOLF
A symbol of St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226). Sharing symbolism with the beast of Gubbio tamed by the saint is the lark, whose song cheered the dying Francis. St. Francis loved all nature as God's creation and so is represented sybolically by birds and beasts as well as by a leaning church which Francis saved from falling by his reforms.
