SPIRITUAL RELATIONSHIP

Religious affinity arising from active participation in the sacraments of baptism and confirmation. The sponsors in both sacraments become spiritually related to those whom they sponsor. Also the one baptizing becomes spiritually related to the person baptized. The relationship arising from sponsorship at baptism becomes an impediment to marriage with person sponored.
