REDACTION

Shortened term for the redaction-historical method of interpreting the Bible. It goes beyond form criticism in analyzing how the biblical texts underwent development and change as they were used in different Gospel contexts, e.g., the same words of Christ may be found in Matthew and Luke in different contexts, with corresponding differences in expression.
