PRECURSOR
As the herald of Christ, St. John the Baptist, of whom all four Evangelists wrote at length and who was described ;by his father, Zechariah, in the Benedictus "You shall be called Prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare the way for Him" (Luke 1:76). (Etym. Latin praecursor, forerunner.)
