PERICOPE
Literally from the Greek, a "cutting around," commonly applied to a passage from the Bible to be read at Mass or in the Divine Office. Also refers to a lesson (lectio) from the Scriptures, Fathers of the Church, or writings of the saints read in the Liturgy of the Hours.
