PATRIMONY OF THE POOR
In the early Church, after the Edict of Milan (A.D.313), a fourth of the revenues of a diocese set aside for the relief of the poor. Its biblical basis was the strong emphasis in the New Testament on caring for the poor, and of sharing, as a condition for salvation.
