PASSION NARRATIVE
The declamation of the Passion of Our Lord in front of the altar by different persons, one reciting the words of Christ, another the words of the Jewish tribunal or the Roman governor, and a third representing the crowd. The interrelation of their voices, pitch, and interpretation of the various roles is a part of today's Passion services. The Passion music reached its highest development under Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Joseph Haydn.
