IRREMOVABILITY
Privilege of certain ecclesiastical persons of not being liable to, or capable of, displacement. It corresponds to tenure in ecclesiastical office. Traditionally canon law has recognized that bishops in a diocese and pastors in a parish cannot be removed without a just cause determined by judicial procedure in an ecclesiastical court. Some pastors have had special privileges of tenure in exceptional cases and extraordinary circumstances.
