INFANTS, EUCHARIST TO
In some rites of the Catholic Church, Holy Communion is given to infants after their baptism. At the Council of Trent the Church defined that this practice is not necessary. In the Latin Rite the Eucharist is given to children once they reach the age of reason, provided they can distinguish the Bread of the Eucharist from ordinary bread.
