HERODIANS

A group of Jews who supported the dynasty of Herod and shared its loyalty to Rome. They took part in the attempt to trap Jesus over possible disloyalty to Caesar (Matthew 22:16-22). Mark accuses them of even plotting with the Pharisees to destroy him (Mark 3:6). They were a political rather than a religious group.
