GYNAECEUM
The part of an Eastern Rite Catholic church reserved at times for the women in the congregation. Going back to early Christian times, the separation of women worshipers is still generally common in both Catholic and dissident Eastern Churches and also practiced, though less generally, in other rites, depending on the cultural traditions of the people.
