FLOWERS
Widely used in the Catholic Church to adorn altars, to place before statues, and to display in shrines or places of pilgrimage. Cut flowers are not only ornamental, they are also a form of sacrifice, as they wither and must be replaced. Floral decorations on the lampstand and on the paneling and doors of the temple are mentioned in the Bible (Exodus 25:31; I Kings 6:18).
