EIGHTH CRUSADE
The last Crusade (1270), undertaken by St. Louis of France (1214-70), with the aid of his brother, Charles of Anjou. After an attack on Tunis, St. Louis died there in 1270, and Charles concluded the crusade by negotiating peace with the Moslems. Soon after, the whole former Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem, established by the Christians, after the First Crusade, in A.D. 1100, passed into the hands of Islam.
